Pop Up Exhibit: Sunfall and Shadows

A few words from the artist, Judith Lordi:

I’m not sure that artists set out to make statements. Artists, someone said, like writers, express themselves not because they want to, but because they must. There is an inner compulsion to create, to imagine, to respond to the world around them.

My own desire is to grasp the effervescent beauty of a few beloved moments of my many days. Perhaps to share the joy that horses feel rolling in the sand or splashing in the waves, and that of their riders.  I crave capturing the colors of my garden during rainy season, or the hills in the long shadows of afternoon---the shape of storm clouds glowering, bringing blessed rain. I want to hold thefleeting joys of my life imprisoned in color and line on my static canvas. Asthough that will stop the currents of time from carrying it all--- along with friends and family--- into that dim abyss.
