JUDITH LORDI
Born on St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, J. A. Lordi attended St. Mary’s Hall in Burlington, New Jersey, Hannah More Academy, in Reisterstown, Maryland, and graduated from Solebury School in New Hope, Pennsylvania. She had wonderful art teachers, but was determined to be a writer and rider, not an artist. She has been a riding instructor most of her life and was involved with St. Croix Pony Club and the St. Croix Horseshow (with Fred Bear) from their inception and for many years. She organized the VI Equestrian Assoc. and managed it through the preparations for the 1980 Olympics. Both these organizations were community efforts and many wonderful people contributed time and effort to their successes. Married to Paul Lordi in Ocala, Florida, she started a Thoroughbred market breeders farm, Sunchaser Hill, but after her children and stepchildren left the nest, they returned to St. Croix. During the onslaught and subsequent isolation of the pandemic JAL has returned to painting. This hobby has become a major activity and friends and family have encouraged her to exhibit her paintings.
